Today, Microsoft officially launched its first Azure cloud region in Indonesia—strategically located in greater Jakarta. This new “Indonesia Central” hub delivers in-country data storage, enterprise-grade security, and three separate availability zones engineered for low latency and exceptional uptime. Backed by a $1.7 billion investment through 2028, the facility is poised to accelerate digital transformation, bolster AI research, and support local startups and enterprises. Analysts predict it will contribute over $15 billion to Indonesia’s economy by enhancing data sovereignty and enabling advanced cloud services across government, finance, and technology sectors.
