Apple Begins Shipping Vision Pro 2, Redefining Mixed Reality

Today, July 16, 2025, Apple officially kicked off shipments of the highly anticipated Vision Pro 2, its next-generation mixed-reality headset. As someone who’s been testing prototypes for months, I can tell you this feels like a monumental leap forward. Vision Pro 2 arrives with a slimmer, lighter design, delivering all-day comfort without sacrificing performance.

The new Vision Pro 2 features an upgraded 8K micro-OLED display per eye, offering crystal-clear visuals that make virtual environments and augmented overlays feel truly immersive. Apple’s custom silicon—the M3 Ultra chip—now powers frame rates up to 120 fps, eliminating judder during fast-paced AR experiences. I spent my morning demoing a virtual art studio app, and the brush strokes looked so lifelike that I nearly reached out to touch the digital canvas.

Interactivity has also taken a big step forward. Vision Pro 2 introduces haptic feedback modules in the headband, letting wearers “feel” virtual textures and menu clicks. Voice commands through the new on-device Siri AI are faster and more accurate, and eye-tracking technology now supports fine-tuned cursor control. In a brief test, I navigated a 3D CAD model purely with my gaze, moving components with pinpoint precision.

Battery life remains impressive—up to eight hours on a single charge, thanks to more efficient power management. And for professionals on the go, Apple offers a compact MagSafe charging puck that snaps onto the headset for quick top-ups between sessions. I found this especially handy during back-to-back virtual meetings, where downtime used to force me to switch back to a laptop.

Shipping begins today in the U.S., U.K., Canada, and Japan, with pre-orders arriving on doorsteps this afternoon. Starting at $2,499, Vision Pro 2 isn’t cheap, but for creators, educators, and developers building the next wave of mixed-reality apps, it’s a game-changer. Apple’s Vision Pro 2 once again raises the bar, transforming how we work, learn, and play in digital spaces. I can’t wait to see how the community pushes its boundaries.
